Prolotherapy is a regenerative injection therapy that harness a person’s own innate ability to heal. We inject a combination of dextrose (sugar-water) and local anesthetic right into damaged tissue, which stimulates healing and the production of new, healthy tissue. Prolotherapy increases joint stability, ultimately improving function and decreasing pain.

Traditional approaches with anti-inflammatory drugs and surgery often fail to stabilize the joint and relieve pain permanently. Prolotherapy has the unique ability to directly address the cause of instability and repair the weakened sites, resulting in permanent stabilization of the joint. When precisely injected into the site of pain or injury, these techniques create a mild, controlled inflammation which stimulates the body to lay down new tendon or ligament fibers, resulting in a strengthening of the weakened structure. When the joint becomes strong, pain will be relieved.

IV therapy is the practice of administering nutrients directly into the venous system. By adding nutrients straight to the blood, we are able to skip the digestive system and achieve therapeutic plasma concentrations that are not possible through diet or oral supplementation. Vitamin infusion IV’s packed with vitamins and minerals designed to help improve your overall health and wellness.

IV Therapy appointments are usually 45 minutes long, but depending on the size of your vein, this time frame may be shorter. We ask that our patients to have eaten within 3 hours before getting their IV, and have consumed 1L of water.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture points stimulate the central nervous system. This releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes can stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. They can promote physical and emotional well-being.

Hello! I’m Emma, a Doctor of Acupuncture and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I am deeply inspired by the magic and beauty of this ancient medicine, and I bring these principles into every treatment I provide.

My journey in healthcare began with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Honours) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, sparked by a lifelong curiosity about the intricacies of the human body. After experiencing the healing effects of acupuncture firsthand, I became fascinated with TCM and pursued specialized training at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, BC, where I graduated summa cum laude in 2016. Following registration with the CTCMA in BC, I was fortunate to complete a year-long apprenticeship with Dr. Reuven Freesman, DTCM.

In the past 8 years, my practice has evolved as my training has led to a focus on all areas of women’s health. In an area where I feel there is lack of support, I am honoured to offer treatment for conditions such as PMS/PMDD, fertility, PCOS, hormonal imbalances, peri/menopausal issues, painful/irregular menstruation and pre/post natal care. I have completed comprehensive training in fertility acupuncture under the guidance of Jane Lyttleton, as well as specialized training in pregnancy, labor, and postpartum acupuncture with Dr. Debra Betts. I am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure that my clients receive the highest standard of care.

Furthermore, I’ve pursued specialized training in Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture with Dr. Martha Lucas, allowing me to offer a natural, holistic approach to skin rejuvenation and facial health.

I also have a clinical focus in mental health, treating stress, anxiety, and depression, with additional training in trauma and PTSD specifically. Using various modalities, including acupuncture, fire cupping, auricular therapy, gua sha, nutritional therapy, and lifestyle advice based on TCM theory, I have found profound healing and wonderful results in treating these focuses.

As an advocate for holistic wellness, I encourage my patients to embrace a balanced lifestyle that encompasses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I create personalized treatment plans, addressing the root cause of imbalance rather than only treating symptoms for lasting health improvements.

I am thrilled to bring my patient-centred practice to Elevate Functional Health, and I look forward to joining you on your healing journey.

Hello, a bit about me and what I offer. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), a Certified Personal Trainer, and a Yoga Teacher, with over a decade of experience in personal training and yoga.

Since 2018, my social work experience has included working with community-based organizations, supporting individuals in recovery and mental health, and working with children, youth, and families experiencing crisis. These experiences have strengthened my ability to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care.

My approach is holistic and person-centered, addressing your mental, emotional, and physical needs. Each session begins with a collaborative check-in, incorporating breathing exercises, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) strategies, and nervous system regulation techniques. We may then move into the gym space for a CrossFit-style workout, using movement as a tool for grounding and empowerment. Sessions conclude with a reflective practice to deepen self-awareness and strengthen the mind–body connection.

What sets my work apart from traditional personal training is the integration of social work and yoga perspectives. Each session draws on strength-based approaches, mindfulness, and somatic (body-focused) practices to support your overall well-being.

Please note that these sessions are not talk therapy, as individual therapy is currently outside my professional scope. If that is your goal, I would be happy to help connect you with a therapist who may be a better fit. I look forward to discovering your unique strengths and helping lift the weight of trauma—together.
