Hello! I’m Emma, a Doctor of Acupuncture and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I am deeply inspired by the magic and beauty of this ancient medicine, and I bring these principles into every treatment I provide.

My journey in healthcare began with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Honours) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, sparked by a lifelong curiosity about the intricacies of the human body. After experiencing the healing effects of acupuncture firsthand, I became fascinated with TCM and pursued specialized training at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, BC, where I graduated summa cum laude in 2016. Following registration with the CTCMA in BC, I was fortunate to complete a year-long apprenticeship with Dr. Reuven Freesman, DTCM.

In the past 8 years, my practice has evolved as my training has led to a focus on all areas of women’s health. In an area where I feel there is lack of support, I am honoured to offer treatment for conditions such as PMS/PMDD, fertility, PCOS, hormonal imbalances, peri/menopausal issues, painful/irregular menstruation and pre/post natal care. I have completed comprehensive training in fertility acupuncture under the guidance of Jane Lyttleton, as well as specialized training in pregnancy, labor, and postpartum acupuncture with Dr. Debra Betts. I am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure that my clients receive the highest standard of care.

Furthermore, I’ve pursued specialized training in Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture with Dr. Martha Lucas, allowing me to offer a natural, holistic approach to skin rejuvenation and facial health.

I also have a clinical focus in mental health, treating stress, anxiety, and depression, with additional training in trauma and PTSD specifically. Using various modalities, including acupuncture, fire cupping, auricular therapy, gua sha, nutritional therapy, and lifestyle advice based on TCM theory, I have found profound healing and wonderful results in treating these focuses.

As an advocate for holistic wellness, I encourage my patients to embrace a balanced lifestyle that encompasses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I create personalized treatment plans, addressing the root cause of imbalance rather than only treating symptoms for lasting health improvements.

I am thrilled to bring my patient-centred practice to Elevate Functional Health, and I look forward to joining you on your healing journey.

Hello! I am Jamin. I am a compassionate and dedicated massage therapist who graduated from Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Calgary, where I developed a strong foundation in anatomy, assessment, therapeutic techniques, and client care. I am passionate about helping people feel more comfortable in their bodies and believe that massage therapy should be a personalized experience built around each client’s individual needs, goals, and comfort level.

I take the time to listen to my clients, understand what they are experiencing, and create a treatment plan centred around them. I believe that good communication, informed consent, professional boundaries, and trust are essential to creating a safe and positive therapeutic environment.

With training in deep tissue, relaxation, and therapeutic massage, I use a variety of techniques, including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, muscle release, passive stretching, joint mobilizations and joint play, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. I work with the body and nervous system to help clients relax, manage pain, and support overall mobility, with the goal of helping them live healthier, more comfortable lives.

For me, massage therapy is about more than what happens on the treatment table. I enjoy helping clients better understand their bodies by providing education, simple self-care strategies, and remedial exercises they can incorporate into their everyday lives.

With an emphasis on intention, accurate tissue engagement, and compassionate care, my goal is to create a comfortable and respectful environment where every client feels heard, supported, and actively involved in their health.

Outside of massage therapy, I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I love hiking, paddle boarding, swimming, camping, and snowboarding, and I’m always happy to enjoy a little adventure.

When I’m at home, I enjoy cooking, sewing, playing guitar, and singing. Most importantly, I treasure spending quality time with my son, family, and close friends. I believe that finding balance, staying active, and making time for the people you love are all important parts of living a happy and healthy life.

BIOGRAPHY

As a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), Personal Trainer, and Yoga Teacher, I bring an interdisciplinary and trauma-informed approach to movement, fitness, and well-being. My work is grounded in the belief that movement can be a meaningful part of supporting mental health, connection, autonomy, and quality of life without relying on shame, punishment, or unrealistic expectations.

My professional background in adult mental health and addictions, neurodiversity, and trauma-informed care informs the way I approach fitness and movement. Rather than viewing exercise as simply a tool for changing bodies, I understand movement as an opportunity to develop strength, confidence, body awareness, connection, and agency.

I work to create movement practices that are accessible, sustainable, and responsive to different bodies, brains, abilities, identities, and lived experiences. Sessions can be adapted to meet individual needs, preferences, energy levels, experiences, and goals. Whether someone is beginning their fitness journey, returning to movement, looking for greater strength and mobility, or seeking a different relationship with exercise, my approach begins with meeting people where they are.

My practice is anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, trans- and queer-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and responsive to diverse abilities and needs. I recognize that people’s relationships with their bodies and with fitness are shaped by broader social, cultural, and institutional contexts. For this reason, I strive to create spaces where clients can engage with movement without having to conform to narrow expectations about what bodies should look like, how they should move, or what fitness should mean.

I believe fitness should support autonomy, dignity, accessibility, and well-being. My goal is not to prescribe a single way of moving or define what a person’s body should become, but to work collaboratively with each client to develop movement practices that feel meaningful, realistic, and sustainable.

At the heart of my practice is a simple belief:

All bodies. All brains. All identities.

If you are looking for a fitness and movement space that is respectful, inclusive, trauma-informed, and aligned with your values, I would love to connect!
